Thrown-away puppies find homes
(Local News ~ 12/08/06)
Dogs found abandoned in a Dumpster have all found good homes. Park maintenance workers Sunday heard whimpering from a Dumpster in Mulberry Acres mobile home park in Fruitland and discovered eight puppies in a Purina dog-food bag. The approximately 4-day-old lab-mix puppies had been discarded there only hours earlier and were shivering from exposure to the cold. One of the pups was already dead, probably from impact with the steel container, but the others looked healthy...

Everyone's a critic: 'The Nativity Story'
(Entertainment ~ 12/08/06)
This is a story that has been told time and time again, but in this realist version of the story the filmmakers seemed to capture the violent conditions that existed in the Holy Land quite well. In doing so, many of the scenes are lackadaisical and at times I almost felt as if I were watching a docudrama on the BBC instead of a motion picture. But alas, a few nicely done CGI backgrounds came to rescue and rekindled my interest...
