Illinois State Police on Monday released the name of the driver who died in a fiery crash on Illinois Highway 146 just east the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge.
John F. Harris, 22, of Cairo, Ill., was driving the Chevrolet Blazer that crossed the center line on the highway on June 30, struck a tractor-trailer and a minivan and burst into flames, dispatcher Christine Garner said.
Harris was trapped in the mangled remains of his car as it caught fire. Along with the tractor-trailer, the minivan and the Blazer, a fourth vehicle was damaged as it ran over debris. Harris was traveling east when the wreck occurred.
