Obama supporters gather to watch speech

Local supporters of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama will gather for a convention watching party beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2136 William St., in Cape Girardeau. Obama will be making his speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination at Invesco Field, a professional football stadium that seats 75,000. The speech is a break with the tradition, established in 1932 by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, of making a speech in the convention hall. The exact time of the speech has not been announced. The Cape Girardeau party is one of 13 specific locations statewide announced Wednesday by the Obama campaign. In the news release, the campaign said that more than 100 such parties are being organized statewide.

Red_Rhino, Herr, Gurus Mom, Babe, or anyone else interested.. When I started blogging, (approximately two years ago) this forum was filled with "hate filled" Republicon bloggers that stalked, made personal attacks, physically threatened, and harassed any so called "liberal" posters that entered the forum with different views than theirs. Even you Herr, have been part of the negative labeling process. As we know, "labels" have always been hurtful and "inciteful" forms of bigotry and hate. Case in point? Republicons that show up to Democratic area events to intimidate, ridicule, and heckled.

Example from a comment by an SO commenter about the Obama acceptance speech the other night at BBW.

"Be ready to be heckled, you talking piles of excrement - all 3 of you.

I don't think BWW has enough disinfectant to clean up the slime these people drag in with them and still pass a health inspection."

Do Democrats do this to area Republicon events in Cape Girardeau? No. THIS is a sign of that FEAR that you're talking about. This is a sign of the Bigotry and ignorance.

Freedom of Speech?? If so, then everytime I cussed, posted an avatar of McCain and Bush hugging, and called someone a name. It was equally freedom of speech.

Anyhow, when I seen MJB being beat-up for his posts. (two-years ago) I said NO MORE. I was no longer going to allow a one sided exchange of views to dominate the "speakout" (implying free speech) forum. Have I hit Republicans hard? You bet ya! Have I engaged in hateful and inciteful posts? Yep! Absolutely, but only when defending myself or being blatantly provoked. Have I attacked "public" officials? Yes sir! Key words "Public" Servant. "PAID" by the people. Have you all been rewarded for ignorance in your jobs? I doubt it. A public servant is held to a HIGHER standard and accountability is PART of that standard.

The fact is, I have been banned for name calling, cussing, and a "biasedly" tasteless photo of John McCain hugging and adjusting the fly of George W. Bush. Yet, I have seen many others do the same. Cuss, and call people names, but that's not all. I have seen threats, racist remarks, racist avatars, group bullying on single individuals, and purposefully inciteful remarks. Yet either the participants in the forum over look those (biasedly) or the Missourian blatantly fails to address the situation. There's Political bias in this forum and by the Missourian? You betcha! Everyday!

Speakout, is what it is. A forum to Speakout AGAINST or FOR the issues that the citizens of Southeast Missouri feel are worthy of praise or ridicule. When OTHER posters start labeling, threatening, and picking on "certain" posters that is a forum of political racism. What did I do? I balanced the scale of justice. Call it blogosphere vigilantism, trolling or what have you; the fact is...this was all STARTED by one...single...frame of political thought processes two years ago. If you want to blame anyone, maybe you should blame yourselves. The fact is my little Republicon friends, changes are coming, with or without this blog. If it IS shut down, then I have "Accomplished my Mission". I have silenced the biased, racial, and bigoted remarks that have plagued this forum since it's online conception.

A change, yes. Change the contol of the house and senate--as I recall, groceries & gas were much cheaper before Nancy & Harry were in charge. Lots of things have happened in the last 2 years--I say it's time for change.

I agree! It's time for a change. I might not go but I'm leaning Biden.

Oh beleive me there are more than 3 of us that support Obama! And by your verbal attacks you show exactly why we are Democrats & proud of it and why we can't allow the Republicans to further damage our country! Go back into your cave please.
