Mo. gov. candidate Hulshof outlines education plan

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Republican gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof outlines a plan to entice more people to teach math and science in Missouri.

Hulshof's plan would offer 1,500 new math and science teachers bonuses of $15,000 each spread over five years. When fully phased in, the plan would cost about $4.5 million annually.

Hulshof also outlined two other initiatives Wednesday to prepare Missouri's work force.

One would spend $3 million annually to establish more online courses through Missouri's colleges and universities.

The other would allot $6 million annually for community colleges to develop specific job-training programs for businesses wanting to locate in Missouri.
