Speak Out 9/3/08

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Hillary changed

THIS IS in response to the person who called Speak Out saying that Hillary Clinton had been a Democrat her entire life. This is untrue. She was a Republican turned Democrat. About the time she went into college is when she made the switch. If you need to know the truth about this, read "The Truth About Hillary" by Edward Kline.

Show of respect

I WAS emotionally touched Thursday as I left Alma Schrader Elementary School. Every morning the school plays the national anthem. Today I saw three roofers across the street stop, remove their hats, place their hands over their hearts and face the flag during the anthem. It was a wonderful sign of respect and pride, not often seen these days. I only wish I'd had my camera. It was a touching moment.

Credit goes to GOP

I'VE BEEN watching this convention and Bill Clinton, they keep talking about the economy and a balanced budget under Bill Clinton. Let's set the record straight. The only reason he had a balanced budget and surplus is because it was after Newt Gingrich and the Republicans took over the Senate and the House. That's when he got it. He had said that there would be deficits forever, that we would never have a balanced budget. When they took it over, they forced him to sign the balanced budget for that year. So let's set the record straight.

Blame goes to GOP

THIS IS in regard to the article in Speak Out about the Republicans blaming the Democrats for the way the country is. I don't think that's true. The Democrats try to pass things through Congress and the president never would sign them. So we're just getting blamed for something the Republicans didn't want to sign. I think you look in the other direction, where the real cause is. We don't need four more like we had the last eight.

Gas prices

I JUST returned from St. Louis and was startled to see the price of gas still so high. In numerous different towns in St. Louis, the price of gas was no more than $3.36. Just wondering why the Southeast Missouri OPEC still has the price of gas hanging around the $3.50 mark. I guess it's because there's no true competition on the price of gas. That's the price of living in Southeast Missouri, I guess.

Draft horses

WE'D LIKE to make a correction on the Mangels family article in Thursday's Speak Out. They star in the draft horse competition, not the draft car, although I would put them in the same league as Dale Earnhardt wiping out all the competition. They're really something. Everybody come and watch them.

True-blooded American

EVERYDAY THERE'S someone in Speak Out condemning McCain for his seven houses and giving a couple to the poor. He spent years as a prisoner of war. What did Obama do for his country? There is no way I would vote for Obama. McCain proves to me that he is a true-blooded American and God help us to elect him. A true American.

Mall needs better stores

I just read that Steve and Barry's is going out of business. I think the mall could definitely benefit from some better stores. As a mom of three children under age 10, I would love to see them bring a Children's Place clothing store to our mall. I think they could make a fortune.

Setting record straight

It's a minor correction, but the record needs to be set straight. The Speak Out claim that Senator McCain contributed 28 percent of his income to charity is incorrect. His wife made the contribution, and it was 28 percent of her income.

His wife's thing

ACTUALLY I think if John McCain knew just how many houses he owned that would trouble me more because it would show that he's that vain. As it is, I think this is his wife's thing because I think she came from a home that was fairly well off growing up, a lot wealthier than any of us. She's used to those kind of things. But John McCain, he's sort of a common man. In Congress, he's always showed he cares about us, and he's more than just about his houses and it never was an issue before because he always did a good job in Congress for the people he represented.

Movie character?

Mccain's vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin, is the governor of Alaska. She likes to hunt and eat mooseburgers. If she is elected, she might make fine fodder for a movie by the Coen brothers.

Not qualified

I am a woman and a democrat, and this "affirmative action" choice of Sarah Palin is exactly what high-achieving minorities and females are against. She should have to reach the high standards that the office of VP demands. She may be a competent governor of Alaska, but she will never be able to represent our country on an international level. We have to remember that if elected, she will have the strong possibility of becoming president, which is something that being a mayor of a town of 9,000 does not make her qualified for.

I can't wait for November. At least I get a small break from the constant bickering between the two party supports.

Brilliant comeback!

The full speech by the honorable Mrs. Palin is located at www.drudgereport.com. Enjoy!

This one is pertinent, Doc ... More nice work by the Dim controlled Congress:

[110th] S.RES.414 : A resolution designating January 2008 as "National Stalking Awareness Month".
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Thu, Sep 4, 2008, 12:18 am CDT

Sorry for "bullying" some of you all out of the posting this evening. The point has been made ... Barrack Hussein Obama has no legislative record.

I'll use Doc Doc / Robert / MOG Bueller / JMAMO.'s link tomorrow to post more of the same. Sorry, but it's necessary.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Thu, Sep 4, 2008, 12:07 am CDT

[110th] S.RES.343 : A resolution designating October 19, 2007, as "National Mammography Day".
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr. [DE] (introduced 10/2/2007)

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Thu, Sep 4, 2008, 12:02 am CDT

[110th] S.RES.256 : A resolution designating June 2007 as "National Aphasia Awareness Month" and supporting efforts to increase awareness of aphasia.
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr. [DE] (introduced 6/26/2007)

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Thu, Sep 4, 2008, 12:01 am CDT

What has the Dim controlled Congress done in the last two years?

-[110th] S.CON.RES.10 : A concurrent resolution honoring and praising the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People on the occasion of its 98th anniversary.
Sponsor: Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY] (introduced 2/12/2007)

-[110th] S.RES.92 : A resolution calling for the immediate and unconditional release of soldiers of Israel held captive by Hamas and Hezbollah.
Sponsor: Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY] (introduced 3/1/2007)

-[110th] S.RES.112 : A resolution designating April 6, 2007, as "National Missing Persons Day".
Sponsor: Sen Schumer, Charles E. [NY] (introduced 3/20/2007)

-[110th] S.RES.65 : A resolution condemning the murder of Turkish-Armenian journalist and human rights advocate Hrant Dink and urging the people of Turkey to honor his legacy of tolerance.
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr. [DE] (introduced 2/1/2007)

-[110th] S.RES.105 : A resolution designating September 2007 as "Campus Fire Safety Month".
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr. [DE] (introduced 3/14/2007)

-[110th] S.RES.225 : A resolution designating the month of August 2007 as "National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month".
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr. [DE] (introduced 6/7/2007)

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:59 pm CDT

But Obama had just begun. He told his constituents to hope, and hope they did. And Obama called forth for this legislation:

[110th] S.RES.226 : A resolution recognizing the month of November 2007 as "National Homeless Youth Awareness Month".

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:53 pm CDT

A Dim trying to shut down free speech. Go figure.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:50 pm CDT

But, behold, there arose a man who would help Obama in his fight to change the face of politics:

[110th] S.RES.142 : A resolution observing Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, and calling on the remaining member countries of the International Commission of the International Tracing Service to ratify the May 2006 amendments to the 1955 Bonn Accords immediately to allow open access to the Bad Arolsen archives.
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr. [DE] (introduced 4/10/2007) Cosponsor: Sen Obama, Barrack

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:48 pm CDT

But Obama wasn't done. He selflessly led the fight to introduce a bill that would forever chang ethe face of a Nation:

110th] S.RES.133 : A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 3/28/2007)

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:45 pm CDT

And then Barrack worked on this piece of legislation:

110th] S.RES.96 : A resolution expressing the sense of the Senate that Harriett Woods will be remembered as a pioneer in women's politics.

Barack Obama said today that politics has become too gummed up by money and influence ... and then he had to leave to attend a fundraiser. - Jay Leno

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:40 pm CDT

Hey, Just, (as well as others who are asleep now)...All those resolutions posted today remind me of what I've said for about 30 years now: Our politicians should be part-time employees. Might get down to the nitty-gritty if they only had time for actual governmental work that might benefit the country. Save us a little money in salaries and retirements, too, maybe?

Good night!

GurusMom -

I thought Doc was older than that ... I mean he acts like a 12 year old (avoidance) and has the political intellect of a 12 year old, but I figured him for early to mid-sixties.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:37 pm CDT

82allamerican, reduce government spending? Are you kidding? Oh, I see you are. Well, wouldn't that be part of fixing the economy, or not? Somehow, I guess the shame & blame falls upon us...for not insisting that our government work within a budget, like families have to do.

We're still in Bosnia? Oh! We're everywhere taking care of everyone and everything...except here. Sorry.

Just, it's a 12-year-old testing out his amazing computer skills. You know how bored these adolescents get, before they get a grasp on reality. Bet his mommy doesn't know he's not in bed!

VP Candidate Palin has never worked in Washington. She doesn't know what it's like in the trenches, where grit and determination must succeed in order to acocmplish legislation like:

[110th] S.CON.RES.58 : A concurrent resolution welcoming First Minister Dr. Ian Paisley and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness of Northern Ireland to the United States.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:34 pm CDT

What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick. Sarah Palin quote.

-- Posted by BABE on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:33 pm CDT

Barrack Obama. The candidate for hope and change. The candidate who placed his political career on the line to pass such important legislations as :

[110th] S.CON.RES.36 : A concurrent resolution supporting the goals and ideals of National Teen Driver Safety Week.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:31 pm CDT

And then I rested .. cuz that was hard wurk.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:28 pm CDT

And then I followed that piece of work up with this little ditty:

[110th] S.RES.622 : A resolution designating the week beginning September 7, 2008, as "National Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week".

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:26 pm CDT

So, Obama, what did you today? well I co-spsonsored the following piece of legislation to prove I have leadership potential:

[110th] S.RES.554 : A resolution expressing the Sense of the Senate on humanitarian assistance to Burma after Cyclone Nargis

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 11:24 pm CDT

82allamerican-

I've accoomplished what I needed to. Posters here know the difference, and I get to remind people twice (thanks to the double posting avatar) about Obama's affiliation to an anti-American, rascist nut. Funny how things work out.

Doc / Robert / MOG / Buller / JMAMO. -

Does that include bringing our troops home from Bosnia? You know, we've been there for 10 years.

How about that Dim controlled Congress? Here's a peice of legislative accomplishment for ya':

[110th] S.RES.319 : A resolution expressing the sense of the Senate regarding the United States Transportation Command on its 20th anniversary.
Sponsor: Sen Durbin, Richard [IL] (introduced 9/18/2007) Co-Sponsor: Sen Barrack Obama

Did the internet safety legislation include provisions for prosecution of SO indentity theft?

Any thoughts on this Obama legislative accomplishment (co-sponsor)?:

[110th] S.RES.205 : A resolution designating June 2007 as "National Internet Safety Month".

national defense
energy
reduce government spending - yeah I know, when h.e.l.l freezes, but a guy can dream!

Bringing our troops home
The economy
healthcare
Alternative fuels/vehicles

Do these in succeeding order. 1, 2, 3, 4, first 100 days.

Another of BO's legislative "accomplishments":

[110th] S.RES.193 : A resolution designating the week of May 6 through May 12, 2007, as "North American Occupational Safety and Health Week" and May 9, 2007, as "Occupational Safety and Health Professional Day".

Bringing our troops home
Alternative fuels/vehicles

Three isn't really enough for me!

Bald Dude - I'll gladly discuss the issues with you. Just pay attention to my forum name, so you don't get baboozeled.

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 10:55 pm CDT

opinion,

mine are

1. energy independence
2. healthcare reform
3. free trade

now the reason i bring this up is to get an idea what is important to others. i think becoming energy independent helps tremendously with national defense. i agree that national defense is continuously the #1 priority of the federal government. however how that is carried out is a source of debate. perhaps for another day but i am sure we could go round and round on that one.
i have watched more of the RNC than i did the DNC (mostly because in one week the Cardinals have fallen from playoff contention). this forum can be intersting during the debates if posters chose it to be so.

-- Posted by shortwhitebaldguy on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 10:52 pm CDT

Thanks, Babe. I think we know who did it since he went silent. Can't blame him ... it was a rough evening for him. Poor little Dim.

Another of Obama's legislative "accomplishments" :[110th] S.RES.158 : A resolution designating April 20, 2007, as "National and Global Youth Service Day".

-- Posted by Just_Me_and_My_Opinion on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 10:51 pm CDT

Just Me

The person who stole your name just put a period after your name to make it unique. It happens here all the time but we can tell the difference. The paper is too incompetent to alleviate this problem.

-- Posted by BABE on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 10:51 pm CDT

ummm...Does that mean Palin is taking her kids out of school for the next...what?...2+ months?

Rick, according to most reports, Palin was not McCain's pick. Seems there were threats to disrupt the convention if he'd picked a pro-choice, which apparently was where he was leaning.

Laughing over your post, Theorist...Not sure adultry in politics should be mentioned just now. Guess because it's been so long ago, people have forgotten the first Mrs. McCain, bless her heart. At least Mrs. Edwards & Mrs. Clinton were in good health when their husbands cheated on them. Hope you men don't take offense, but IMHO, men who cheat on their wives are really, really low, and lacking in good judgment. Want someone else? Then get divorced first, for Pete's sake!

Uh oh...Where did I read a few days ago that Palin has been against 'alternative fuels,' including wind power? Maybe I misread that...? No, I'm pretty sure I didn't.

Good grief, get real! As Pops & I were discussing, I've read some good things she's done--and at least that many bad things she's done. It's one thing to be 'for' or 'against' a candidate, but Lord, at least be sensible enough to see and admit the bad with the good. I take that back...be honest enough, in this case. Okay, from me, some more of the bad--since she already seems to have superior support from others:

Palin was not always the fiscal watchdog she has since boasted of being. In her second term as mayor, she pushed for a half-cent raise in the local sales tax to pay for a $15 million sports complex. The complex is popular and a junior league hockey team plays there now, but the city recently had to pay more than $1.3 million to settle an ownership dispute over the site.

Palin fired Ms. Emmons (the librarian) shortly after taking office but changed course after residents made a strong show of support.

Irrelevent perhaps, except that the pregnant daughter is apparently newsworthy, and the family is praised as rather wholesome & appealing: Bristol's alleged boy friend's MySpace has been shut down. On it: "I'm a f***ing redneck," and that if anyone 'messes' with him, "I'll kick ass." "I don't want kids." SIGH

Darn...bad memory for 'facts,' but another website was shut down since the VP nomination...I'll try to find it later for all you fact-mongers. LOL

shortwhite: IMO, Biden will probably do the same with Palin that Obama noticeably did with Clinton--play nice, because otherwise people will say he's picking on her just because she's a woman. Incidentally, Palin had been sequestered (last I read was 'undisclosed location') while she was being prepped. She's going to have a LOT of learning to do, since being a pretty face and a female may not be enough when the debates start. Or...Did I see that they had only scheduled ONE debate? Surely not.

-- Posted by GurusMom on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 10:49 pm CDT

I've won! I have effectively killed the liberals in this forum. They've resorted to copying my forum anme and avatar instead of defending Obama's legislative "accomplishments".

Another example:
-[110th] S.RES.156 : A resolution commending the achievements of the Rutgers University women's basketball team and applauding the character and integrity of the players as student-athletes.

-[110th] S.CON.RES.28 : A concurrent resolution congratulating the City of Chicago for being chosen to represent the United States in the international competition to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and encouraging the International Olympic Committee to select Chicago as the site of the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

she did a pretty good job. it will be tough for her in a debate with Biden. she played the bulldog role that Biden played for the dems. she did better than i expected. she is prety tough. parts seemed too canned but delivery was generally good. i suspect McCain will actually get a boost from her. i actually will look forward to the debates.

Doc / Robert / MOG / Bueller - Stay focused. Remember, Obama has a record and you pproudly posted it ... link and all. I was supposed to chew on it or something. Are you still chewing? Or are you playing hide and go seek with the facts?

Enough with the 109th Congress. Here's some of Obama's most recent legislative initiatives (all have yet to pass):

- [110th] S.CON.RES.25 : A concurrent resolution condemning the recent violent actions of the Government of Zimbabwe against peaceful opposition party activists and members of civil society.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 3/29/2007)

- [110th] S.CON.RES.5 : A concurrent resolution honoring the life of Percy Lavon Julian, a pioneer in the field of organic chemistry and the first and only African-American chemist to be inducted into the National Academy of Sciences.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 1/31/2007)

- [110th] S.RES.133 : A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 3/28/2007)

- [110th] S.RES.383 : A resolution honoring and recognizing the achievements of Carl Stokes, the first African-American mayor of a major American city, in the 40th year since his election as Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 11/15/2007)

- [110th] S.RES.628 : A resolution expressing support for the designation of Disability Pride Day and recognizing that all people, including people living with disabilities, have the right, responsibility, and ability to be active, contributing members of society and fully engaged as citizens of the United States.
Sponsor: Sen Obama, Barack [IL] (introduced 7/25/2008)

Leadership? No. Hope? Yeah, the people he represents in Illinois can "hope" he accomplishes something legislatively.

Johnston, 18, is believed to be the father of Palin's 17-year-old daughter Bristol's baby. On Monday, Palin revealed that the unwed Bristol is five months pregnant.

"BELIEVED" to be?? LOL OMG! How many times has this sexually uneducated girl been pregnant??

Ohhh and more on MOMMY DEAREST:

We have now learned that even at the level of mayor, Palin was a screeching, polarizing campaigner who brought in anti-abortion groups to turn up the heat in her mayoral race, in a tiny town in which local politics had been quite friendly until she came along. Once she won the mayor’s job, she fired all the department heads who had been loyal to her predecessor, and then betrayed some of her own supporters by firing THEM. She fired one of her most loyal supporters, the police chief, because he wasn’t as pro-NRA as she was; he eventually sued. Even the department heads she DID keep, were warned that they weren’t even allowed to talk to reporters unless they got her permission first. She tried to ban books from the local library, and threatened to fire the librarian when she didn’t go along. Her church passed out fliers for a group working to teach gays to “overcome” their homosexuality. When Alaska’s highest court struck down an overly-restrictive anti-abortion law in 2007, Palin shrieked that it was "outrageous".

When Sarah Palin was forced out of the mayor’s job, her mother-in-law, who is pro-choice, ran for the job. Sarah backed her opponent, and their allies spraypainted “BABYKILLER” on her campaign signs. The woman who beat her mother-in-law is still mayor of Wasilla. The mother-in-law likes Obama for 2008. I guess the mother-in-law won’t be babysitting the families many babies or coming over for Thanksgiving.

AND,

We also learned that Palin hired a Washington lobbying firm to save the bridge to nowhere, and other projects. The bridge to' you know, the one she now says she always opposed? And she got $27 milllion for her tiny hometown when she was mayor, using the earmarks that she condemns now.

Which is scarier: that McCain nominated Palin because he didn’t even know all the dirt on her? Or that he DID know, and dumped her on us anyway?

-- Posted by The_Doctor on Wed, Sep 3, 2008, 10:04 pm CDT

The people of Alaska are angured by Palin's lies about the "bridge to nowhere". And by the way, she kept the money.

The Honorable Mrs. Palin at the RNC tonight ...

"And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."

"Here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

"we're going to lay more pipelines, build more nuclear plants, create jobs with clean coal, and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers.

MY GOSH, it's letting me post again--after 2 aborted attempts!

Hey! I'm not debating...just presenting facts I've found--most that I haven't seen presented here, although I admit to having been in and out & maybe missed some! Thought was, maybe some people would like to have a few facts (even from me) instead of just opinion. ;-) Nor am I touting any of the candidates--none really appeal to me, personally OR politically. Often I am good, though, at 'finding fault' where fault belongs. Would be SO much easier for me if I were a My-Party-Right-Or-Wrong person. And thanks to the 2 posters presenting Obama pro/con facts. Facts are essential before voting--which IMO doesn't happen often enough.

Okay, a PERSONAL OPINION: Playing silly gender games with a VP pick is below what I would have expected from the party I've been a member of for over 20 years.

Thanks for info that Palin was NOT registered as a member of the Alaska Independence Party. I could have cared less about that. However, sort of easy to see why it was thought she was a member...Six months ago, she told members of AIP "Keep up the good work" & wished the party luck on an 'inspiring convention.' She spoke the the party's convention in 2006.

An AIP vice chairman brought up Palin's ties to the group in videotaped remarks to the second North American Secessionist Convention in October in Chattanooga, Tenn. "She was an AIP member before she got the job as the mayor of a small town," Clark told the group. "That was a nonpartisan job. But you get along to go along. She eventually joined the Republican Party."

Don't know that I called Palin a 'bad mom,' but...someone has to be taking care of her children right now and in the future, and it certainly doesn't appear to be her priority, if she sticks to the agenda necessary to run for & possibly be elected as VP. If many think she's more concerned with her career than her children--Well, all entitled to their opinions, too. Perhaps if everyone quit using her super-soccer-mom persona as one of her selling points, there would be less criticism?

Doc / Robert / MOG / Bueller - Obama has sponsored 152 bills. Of the 153 bills he has sponsored, 4 ... that's right 4 of them have passed.

Here's a sample:

-S.CON.RES.42 A concurrent resolution recognizing the historical significance of the Juneteenth Independence Day, and expressing the sense of Congress that history should be regarded as a means for understanding the past and solving the challenges of the future.

-S.RES.291 A resolution to congratulate the Chicago White Sox on winning the 2005 World Series Championship.

- S.RES.529 A resolution designating July 13, 2006, as "National Summer Learning Day".

- A bill to suspend temporarily the duty on gibberellic acid.

- S.3757 : A bill to designate the facility of the United States ****** Service located at 950 Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis, Illinois, as the "Katherine Dunham Post Office Building".

- There are 17 of these sposnoed piees of legislation: Purpose will be available when the amendment is proposed for consideration. See Congressional Record for text.

He has co-sposnored 255 legislative pieces of which 80 have passed. Here's a sample:

- S.RES.4 : A resolution expressing the sympathy and pledging the support of the United States Senate and the people of the United States for the victims of the powerful earthquake and devastating tsunami that struck Bangladesh, Burma, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, the Maldives, the Seychelles, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, and other areas of South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa, on December 26, 2004.

- S.RES.38 : A resolution commending the people of Iraq on the January 30, 2005, national elections

- S.RES.75 : A resolution designating March 25, 2005, as "Greek Independence Day: A National Day of Celebration of Greek and American Democracy".

You make this too easy. You'd think with all your split personalities, you'd be able to keep up. Ignore it or absorb it.

Funny, all the attendants of the RNC are dress in suits like they are attending a ball. While the DNC attendees were dressed more casual, common, and real. The RNC sign read Prosperity or Country first, the DNC signs read Change or Hope.

So...the RNC is for rich prosperity and giving MORE to the Country. In the last eight years, haven't we given enough? Sacrificed enough? lost enough? Seems they have already forgotten about the lives lost on Sept. 11th, and all the lives we sacrificed in Iraq. Sad, Sad, Sad.

"Even high-level career moms feel that she is, and has been, in effect, putting her children second over her political aspirations."

Doc,
Let's replace the word political with career in the above quote. Would it apply to a female district manager who is away from home a couple nights a week? How about a mother who accepts a promotion and must move her family to another city as a condition of said promotion. What about those high achieving local mothers that were named to the top 40 under 40?

"In her remarks Friday, Gov. Palin singled out the congressional earmark that Sen. McCain loves to hate. Don't know what three you are referring too because I am relatively new here.

I think that you wont respond because your out of Ammo and have no original thoughts on the subject. Its a shame that on something so important you fail to do the research and when someone calls you on it you get angry, snippy and insulted. Its time to grow up young lady and if your not in for the long run you should stay home!!!

Me'lange and GurusMom,

Thank you for voicing your opinions on Palin. Its great to hear from two Level Headed women that realize Palin is just a pawn in the game of partisan politics.

G-Mom

Yes, I would be happy to debate your perceived deficiencies of Sarah Palin's qualifications. But not at this time because it is an indepth subject and I want to watch her 'hit it out of the ballpark' speech tonight. Oh wait...If you watch it you may learn from her why she took the positions she did. And I am simply amazed that you would call her a bad mother.

Doc.

That all just liberal contraband that has been made up knowing that there was going to be a nominee because Its an Election year you T.W.I.T. It happens every 4 years, and I for one think its funny that you fell for it.

They would have published the same list if the adulterer John Edwards Was the nominee,

Mom said, "Even high-level career moms feel that she is, and has been, in effect, putting her children second over her political aspirations." Amen Amen Amen, if not exploiting them to gain political office.

She is #1 exploiting this new situation with her daughter, #2 exploiting the fact her child has Down's Syndrome. Infact, the GOP is now USING THIS as a platform for her. It's sick, and it's twisted.

Silent_Bob,
One last comment, obviously YOU missed it earlier. I do NOT partake in the political CRAP some of you enjoy.

Unlike some of those in here, I don't feel compelled to debate every piece of CRAP someone throws at me, expecting a reply.

They could have put up YOU for all I care. As long as the candidate had a (D)behind his or her name and is for UHC, redeploying from Iraq, finding alternate fuels, and fixing the economy, I was and AM voting for them. Everyone is SICK of Republicans! All of them!!!

NOW....WHAT has McCain accomplished other than single handedly demolishing the foundation of Habeas Corpus and the Magna Carta??

G-Mom

First I will say welcome to the debate. Your words are of course welcome and most times present well thought out responses, However you started spewing out the same crap that I have read all day long from other scared Democrats. NOTHING ORIGINAL!

OK so if her 2 years as an executive in charge of the state of Alaska don't qualify her for the #2 SPOT how in HELLS BELLS does Obama qualify with only 130 days present in the senate?

Me'Lange - "One such incident, ie pork monies was recently reported by AP, CNN, FOX, CBS, NBS etc"

I know you can't answer me (because of your promise and all), but how about expounding for someone else. What incident? You know, just for debate sake.

Silent_Bob,
What YOU, Just my...opinion and Babe do in this forum...IMHO...is not what I call debating. You each seem to take great pleasure in attacking other posters. Enjoy. I will not be responding or reading your post.

GurusMom -

How about when Joe Biden, BO's VP runningmate, said that Obama wasn't qualified to be President?

The bridge to nowhere? Well let's ask our good Liberal friends at Newsweek in 2007: In an interview with NEWSWEEK, Palin said it's time for Alaska to "grow up" and end its reliance on pork-barrel spending. Shortly after taking office, Palin canceled funding for the "Bridge to Nowhere," a $330 million project that Stevens helped champion in Congress. The bridge, which would have linked the town of Ketchikan to an island airport, had come to symbolize Alaska's dependence on federal handouts. Rather than relying on such largesse, says Palin, she wants to prove Alaska can pay its own way, developing its huge energy wealth in ways that are "politically and environmentally clean.

Form the same Newsweek article: Although she has been in office less than a year, Palin, too, earns high marks from lawmakers on the other side of the aisle. During a debate earlier this year over a natural-gas bill, State Senate Minority Leader Beth Kerttula was astounded when she and another Democrat went to see the new governor to lay out their objections. "Not only did we get right in to see her," says Kerttula, "but she asked us back twice—we saw her three times in 10 hours, until we came up with a solution."

And again: New research shows that voters give female governors significantly higher marks than their male counterparts on such qualities as honesty, cooperation and caring—as well as toughness. And at a time when the national debate has become poisonously partisan, governors like Napolitano, 49, and Palin, 43, are making their mark with a pragmatic, postpartisan approach to solving problems, a style that works especially well with the large numbers of independent voters in their respective states.

And once more for good measure:In Alaska, Palin is challenging the dominant, sometimes corrupting, role of oil companies in the state's political culture. "The public has put a lot of faith in us," says Palin during a meeting with lawmakers in her downtown Anchorage office, where—as if to drive the point home—the giant letters on the side of the ConocoPhillips skyscraper fill an entire wall of windows. "They're saying, 'Here's your shot, clean it up'." For Palin, that has meant tackling the cozy relationship between the state's political elite and the energy industry that provides 85 percent of Alaska's tax revenues—and distancing herself from fellow Republicans, including the state's senior U.S. sena
