Maybe "Killshot" will hit theaters after all (or will it?)Friday, September 5, 2008
Rudi Keller gave us a report this morning on seMissourian.com about what's happening with Cape Girardeau's favorite unreleased big screen gem, "Killshot." It's been almost three years now since film crews and Hollywood stars were in town to film scenes for the Weinstein Co. film based on the Elmore Leonard book about a man and woman on the run from brutal killers. I'm sure we all remember the hysteria that filled Cape's streets for a couple of weeks back in January 2006, but the excitement cooled long ago. And now the news comes that the Weinstein Co. website is reporting a Nov. 7 theatrical release date for the infamous Thomas Jane-Diane Lane (never really thought about how their names rhyme) vehicle. I'm going to be honest here: the filming of "Killshot" was a pretty cool experience for Cape (literally, since it was January), but we've been through this song-and-dance routine before about theatrical release dates. Back in January the Weinstein Co. was throwing around an April 11 release date. We see what didn't happen. Now, with the Weinstein Co. putting out this Nov. 7 release date, I'm more inclined to trust another source: Elmore Leonard himself, the man who authored the book the movie is based on. On his blog site, Leonard said a "well placed source" told him the release date is, to paraphrase, a sham. With the junk Harvey Weinstein's group has put us through, I'm more inclined to believe Elmore. He seems a lot cooler, anyway. You just can't trust those Hollywood types. But regardless of what happens to the flick, we'll always have Cape Girardeau in January, right?
Poll results On Thursday I asked you what you thought about mountain lion reports in Missouri. Here are the results: Do you believe mountain lions have re-established themselves in Missouri?

Good question, BABE.
Really, it's just because I don't want to do polls too often. However, since you've requested it, look for a poll on the subject soon.
Why don't you poll folks asking if they care about Killshot anymore?
