Posted 1 p.m. Monday

I was sound asleep Sunday morning at a friend's house in Bloomfield, Mo., following a night of beer and barbecue.

Sound asleep until the wind woke me up with the sound of a tree scraping the house. Then my friend comes in the bedroom where I'm sleeping and tells my wife and I that we should probably wake up and move to a different room, just in case the tree falls down on the house.

Across the street, a row of Bradford pears had been downed, split at the bottom of their trunks. Assorted debris was everywhere.

That was my introduction to Ike.

You've probably seen our coverage here on seMissourian.com of the damage Ike inflicted on our area, and our ongoing update about the power situation.

We've also posted a gallery of photos taken by Missourian photographer Fred Lynch yesterday, showing some of the initial damage from this massive storm.

But we're hoping to get more photos and stories on Ike from the people who are out there feeling the real impact, people like you. One reader, Karen Grayson, already sent us quite a few photos of what the storm did in Jackson. The photos on this blog are from Karen, but you can see more in the Your Photos section of our site.

If you have any storm stories or photos for us, just click on the "submit" button on either the Your Stories or Your Photos page of our site and fill out the submission form. We'll approve the photos for publication on seMissourian.com, and our favorites will be printed in Thursday's newspaper on page 4.

And if you have a storm-related story or news tip you'd like to share with our reporting staff, shoot me an email at msanders@semissourian.com or send a message to news@semissourian.com.

Reports from around the region

To get information on the damage Ike brought with it around the region, check out this page compiled by the National Weather Service Paducah, Ky., office. Warning, the list is long.
