Cape Girardeau today lost the distinction of being home for the original Flag of Missouri. Today it was presented in formal ceremonies at a joint session of the Senate and House in Jefferson City to the State of Missouri to become one of its cherished historic items. Shown in a picture before the flag was taken to Jefferson City Tuesday are a grandson, Jack Oliver, and a son, Allen L. Oliver, of Mrs. R.B. Oliver, who designed the flag and of whom an early day portrait appears in the background.
