Capaha firetruck rally begins with parade
The annual fire prevention parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hutson's Furniture parking lot on Main Street and ends at Capaha Park. The firetruck rally at Capaha Park will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes displays, firetruck rides and firefighter games. New games include the bed race and hot dog eating contest. VFW Post 3838, at 1049 N. Kingshighway, will hold an indoor flea market and bake sale from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the building fund.

Jackson Rotary will hold its second annual trivia night at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Jackson Middle School. All proceeds benefit Rotary literacy projects. Tickets will be available at the door. Event open to teams and individuals.
The Adult and Literacy Program of Cape Girardeau will hold the annual GED graduation ceremony at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center. A reception by the Zonta Club will immediately follow the ceremony. All students who received their GED during the 2004-2005 year have been sent an invitation to the event. The decendents of Theodore and Martha Schrader Floyd gathered at Jackson City Park Sept. 17 for their annual reunion. A picnic lunch was at noon, and family update information was shared.
