The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, received serious injuries to his leg and was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center, police said. The accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. just past mile marker 96, close to Texas Roadhouse.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department did not release names Thursday night but said the driver of the SUV is from Jackson and the bicyclist is from Cape Girardeau.
