Perryville girls drop season opener 77-50

The Perryville's girls basketball team fell behind by 10 points at halftime and could not come back in a 77-50 loss to Dexter on Monday in its season opener at home.

The Pirates trailed 36-26 at halftime, and Dexter pushed the lead to 20 by outscoring Perryville 19-9 in the third quarter. Kendra Schilli led the Pirates with 16 points, and Alyssa Bauwens had 13.

Perryville is back in action at Oran on Wednesday.

Scott City was outscored 25-8 in the second quarter and fell in its season opener at home.

Nora Glasser led the Rams with eight points, and Whitney Tapley added seven points.

Abby Cohen led Eagle Ridge with 20 points and 12 rebounds in a home win.

Kristen Margrabe added 18 points and five rebounds for the Eagles (1-0).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Eagle Ridge Christian 86, Pathway Christian 32

Eagle Ridge jumped out to a 55-12 halftime lead and played with a running clock throughout the second half in a home rout.

Aaron Shell led the Eagles with 20 pints, Josh Carbaugh had 13 and Daniel Cohen added 10. Ben Douglass added nine points, five steals and seven assists. Stephen Cohen had nine rebounds, and Daniel Cohen added eight rebounds.

OTHER EVENTS

* Central, Notre Dame and Jackson all advanced Monday in the Central Girls Junior Varsity Tournament.

The host Tigers beat Chaffee 37-20, Notre Dame beat Poplar Bluff 44-36 and Jackson routed Sikeston 73-20. Farmington rounded out the final four with a 46-21 win over Dexter.

Central will play Notre Dame at 7:15 tonight, and Jackson will play Farmington at 6 tonight in the other semifinal. The finals are 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

* Notre Dame knocked off Central 60-52 in the Notre Dame Boys Junior Varsity Tournament on Monday.

In other quartefinal games, Charleston beat Farmington 52-45, Poplar Bluff beat Blytheville (Ark.) 45-28 and Jackson beat Sikeston 60-54.

Action at the tournament continues this week.
