Scott City finds range in victory over Advance

The Scott City boys basketball team connected on 11 3-pointers Friday, seven by Jay Simmons, and routed visiting Advance 85-59.

Alex King led the Rams with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Simmons finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Scott City pushed its record to 3-1 with its third straight win.

"They've been playing so hard as a team," Scott City coach Lance Amick said. "It's been a total team effort. We really played well tonight, and we shot the ball phenomenal."

Caleb Estes added 15 points for Scott City, including three 3-pointers.

Alex Steil led Advance with 15 points, Rusty Hendricks had 11, and Jacob Bond and Trenton Moses had 10 apiece.

The Pirates trailed 47-42 after three quarters but outscored Ste. Genevieve 18-7 in the fourth. Perryville made 22 of 24 free throws for a 92-percent performance on the night.
