Fitness Plus Masters swim to top finishes

The Masters Swimmers at Fitness Plus took home several individual and team honors last month at the Missouri Valley/St. Louis Area Masters Championship Meet, hosted by the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Fitness Plus Masters swimmers Brigitte Kinnamon, Karl Larson, Jeff Harms and Skip Wrape, all of Cape Girardeau, competed against more than 60 swimmers from Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

Kinnamon took first place in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:22.58, 100-meter breaststroke (1:42.92) and the 100-meter individual medley (1:34.34).

Larson took second place in the 100- and 400-meter freestyle events with times of 1:17.63 and 6:09.45. He also placed first in the 200 IM in 3:16.84.

Harms took first in the 400 free (5:59.30) and 200 free (2:51.30). Harms also placed second in the 50 free (32.97) and 100 free (1:13.63).

Wrape finished second in the 50 free (32.97) 50 backstroke (1:13.63) and 50 breaststroke (43.58) and won the 100 IM in 1:21.63.

The group combined for a first-place finish in the mixed 400 freestyle relay with a time of 5:11.73. They also finished second in both the mixed 200 medley relay (2:38.56) and the mixed 200 free relay (2:14.20).

Kramer fired an ace back in December

Jack Kramer made a hole in one on Kimbeland Country Club's 12th hole on Dec. 29.

Kramer, from Cape Girardeau, used a gap wedge for the ace on the 90-yard, par-3 hole. The ace was Kramer's first in more than 50 years of playing golf.

Witnesses were Earl Cotner, Ray Boren and Jesse Eaker.
