The good news regarding Mike Rembert's knee injury is that an MRI exam revealed no structural damage.

But the bad news is that there is no guarantee Southeast Missouri State's 6-foot-9, 250-pound junior center will be able to play any more this season.

Southeast coach Scott Edgar said Saturday that Rembert has "strained ligaments."

Rembert, who was injured late in Thursday's home win over Morehead State, was on crutches Saturday as the Redhawks hosted Eastern Kentucky.

Rembert could only watch from the bench in street clothes as Southeast lost 66-61 in a game that was nationally televised by ESPNU.

Edgar said it's difficult to speculate whether or not Rembert will be able to return this season.

"He's out indefinitely," Edgar said. "But I'm always hopeful."

Southeast has four regular-season games remaining, including three Ohio Valley Conference contests.

Although Southeast has not yet clinched a spot in the eight-team OVC tournament that begins Feb. 27, the sixth-place Redhawks are a virtual lock to get in.

"We still have to play our way into the tournament, but it would be great if Mike could come back at least for that," Edgar said.

Rembert is Southeast's third-leading scorer at 10.3 points per game and leading rebounder with six a contest.

Prior to Saturday, Rembert was eighth in the OVC in rebounding and fourth in blocked shots.

"Mike was playing well," Edgar said. "He's played his way into a candidate to make the [OVC] all-newcomer team and maybe set himself up to get some preseason votes to make all-conference next year."
