Jackson Legion sweeps Calvert City

Alex Tripp drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to complete an eight-run rally as Jackson's American Legion team swept visiting Calvert City, Ky., on Monday in a doubleheader.

Jackson trailed 10-2 in the opener, but came all the way back and scored three in the seventh for a 12-11 win. Nick D'Amico pitched the seventh for the win and added two hits.

Blake Reiminger, Jake Hime, Sam Lincoln and Isaac Kennard had two hits apiece for Jackson.

Jackson cruised in the second game, 10-0. Kennard picked up the win. Hime and Ryan Cheney were each 3-for-3.

Cape Senior Babe Ruth splits doubleheader

Blake Gaddis combined for six hits as Cape Girardeau's Senior Babe Ruth team split a doubleheader Monday at Charleston.

Gaddis went 4-for-4 in the 14-3 opening win. Gaddis had two doubles and two triples. Luke Moll had three hits and Jacob Valleroy had two.

Justin Myers threw 6 1/3 innings for the win. Myers struck out six.

Tyler Propst took the loss in the 7-2 nightcap. Propst walked seven and struck out four in six innings.

Cape (4-3) is back in action Thursday at Capaha Field.

Cook, Massa win horseshoe event

Lachelle Cook and Mike Massa teamed to win the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association tournament at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Oran on Sunday.

Doris Stubenrauch and Ron LeGrand teamed to take second while the team of Rose Kern and Edgar Stoverink took third place.

The next tournament is scheduled for Saturday at the Backyard Horseshoe Club in Glenallen, Mo.
