I wonder if the baseball/sports fans in Cape know how good of an American Legion team they have in Post 63 (Cape Ford and Sons). This article certainly does not provide the reader that information. This is a highly talented, energized team that is capable of winning a ballgame every time they step on the field. This team has an infield that plays with the prowess of a cougar stalking prey, with reflexes to the ball like that of the big cat; first basemen that dig out anything playable, and a third baseman that refuses to allow the ball to get through and has a cannon for an arm. This guy sucks up the ball like a Hoover and spits it out like a fastpitch pitching machine. The pitching is symphonic. Well orchestrated and thought out by the young men who assume control of the game when they climb that mound. This outfield is on call every inning of play, as they give the appearence of a dutiful unit patrolling the border to ensure the borders security. As for the catchers, if you are a baseball fan and dig seeing a gritty, all-out, get down and dirty, make the play happen catcher, then you owe it to yourself to come and see the two catchers on this team. Simply put, these two guys are the best around. I haven't even mentioned the explosive offense capabilities of this team. Well Cape Girardeau, be very proud of your American Legion baseball team and do yourself a favor; come to Capaha Field and see this team define baseball.
Oh my god! This team is pretty good but they do not have enough pitching to carry them on a run to a zone tournament title. They also are very weak defensively with the last couple of games proving that point as they do not makle the plays at the critical times. Himmelberg is okay but doesn't throw hard enough to hurt anyone. Labruyere has what I think is the start of a dead arm as he has pitched well against the weaker teams and not so well against the better teams. They are pretty good but wioll need a lot of help to go very far,
