CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Wayne Stark Black, 69, of Charleston died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his home.

He was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Charleston, son of Paul Ramsey and Eunice Stark Black. He and Sharron Friend were married Oct. 7, 1989.

Black served nine years in the U.S. Air Force. He lived at Blodgett, Mo., and was employed 40 years at the U.S. Post Office in Sikeston, Mo. After retiring he moved to Charleston. He had served on the Charleston Nutrition Center Board, and attended the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Miller of Blodgett, Dayna Laseter of St. Louis; two stepsons, Lowell Friend of Covington, Tenn., Oral Friend of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Lucille Stephenson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Shirley Hughes of Dexter; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Penn officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Missouri Funeral Honor Guard.
