MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team bounced back from a loss to nationally ranked Ohio State by notching its first two wins of the season.

After being swept by No. 16 Ohio State in Friday's opening match of the Ball State Active Ankle Challenge, the Redhawks won both of their contests Saturday as the tournament concluded.

Southeast (2-1) slipped past host Ball State 30-22, 30-23, 23-30, 27-30, 15-13, then swept Maine 30-22, 30-23, 30-20 to place second in the season-opening event.

Ohio State captured the title in the four-team tournament by going 3-0.

In Saturday's first match, against Ball State, junior college transfer Aubrey Dondlinger led the Redhawks in kills with 14. Brenna Schlader followed with 13 and Brittany Hastings had 11.

Schlader tallied a career-high six service aces, which is a new Worthen Arena record for a Ball State opponent. She also had four block assists.

Molly Davis led in digs with 29, while Sarah Barth recorded 42 assists and had 20 digs.

Freshman Claire Keaton had 13 digs, while Dondlinger added 12 digs.

Against Maine, Schlader (13), Hastings (11) and Dondlinger (10) again all reached double figures in kills.

Barth had 34 assists and 13 digs, while Dondlinger added 12 digs and Davis recorded 10.

Schlader and Davis were selected to the all-tournament team.

Southeast returns to action Friday at the North Florida Labor Day Classic in Jacksonville.
