Tupac's mother getting her son's words out

NEW YORK -- Afeni Shakur doesn't let her musical taste determine which of the unreleased songs by her son, rapper Tupac Shakur, will be available on his posthumous albums. Not that the 56-year-old Shakur has anything bad to say about the rapper's music. Shakur, who is the executive producer of the new documentary "Tupac: Resurrection," says her son was a genius whose music is timeless. She created Amaru Records after her son was killed in 1996, and has released best-selling albums of his unheard works.

'Radio' man gets help from film industry

ANDERSON, S.C. -- James Kennedy, who inspired the movie "Radio," is getting a helping hand from the film industry after a fire destroyed his home earlier this month. Kennedy received $115,000 from "Radio" director Mike Tollin and Regal Entertainment Group executive vice president Greg Dunn at a ceremony Wednesday at T.L. Hanna High School. The donation, to help Kennedy buy or build a new house, came from several sources, including "Radio" producers Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios and star Cuba Gooding Jr.

Public memorial set for country songwriter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A public memorial for Don Gibson, who wrote and recorded country standards such as "I Can't Stop Loving You," will be held Dec. 3 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Gibson died Monday at Baptist Hospital at age 75. The funeral will be held today at New Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Gibson's hometown of Shelby, N.C. The singer-songwriter was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
