Saxony Lutheran improves to 18-5 with win

Zach Bohnert scored 16 points while Garrett Ruppel added 14 to lead the Saxony Lutheran boys basketball team to an 83-50 victory over Zalma on Wednesday.

Colton Bailey struck for 23 points for the Bulldogs (9-13).

Saxony Lutheran (18-5) used a 31-point second quarter to pull away.

Josh Rollet scored 18 and Justin L'Hote added 16 as the Indians earned the road victory.

St. Vincent (10-12) outscored the Panthers 15-6 in the decisive third quarter.

The Indians, in their final regular-season game, put the defensive clamps on the Rams.

After a close first quarter, St. Vincent (17-7) pushed its lead to 19 points at halftime. The Indians held Scott City under 10 points in every quarter.

Courtney Besand led St. Vincent with 18 points, while Lindsey Wehmeyer grabbed five rebounds. Lacey Siegmund and Kelsey Cissell each finished with four rebounds.

Becky Holder led the Rams with 15 points.
