Monday, February 25, 2008

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -- The Southeast Missouri State softball team wrapped up the Blues City Classic with a 15-0, five-inning rout of Alabama A&M on Sunday.

Southeast went 2-3 in the six-team event hosted by the University of Memphis. The Redhawks are 5-5 on the season.

Elaine Fisher pitched a three-hitter, with four strikeouts and no walks.

The Redhawks had 14 hits, including home runs from Lauren Bradley, Carmen Fowler and Allie Borowiak.

It was the second homer of the season for Fowler, a freshman, and the first career home run for junior college transfer Borowiak.

Katie Otterness went 3-for-3. Bradley, Fowler and Jennifer Vasquez each added two hits. Bradley drove in four runs and Fowler had three RBIs.

Southeast opens its home schedule this weekend by hosting the three-day All-Missouri Cancer Tournament. Play will be Saturday and Sunday.
