High school roundup: Glastetter qualifies for state in 4 events

Oran's Haley Glastetter won two sprints and advanced to the Class 1 state meet in four separate events with a strong performance Saturday at the Class 1 sectional in Centralia.

Glastetter, a sophomore, won the 100 (13.37 seconds) and 200 (27.82). She placed second in the 400 and fourth in the 100 hurdles.

Chaffee's Amber Kirk earned third in the discus (88 feet, 2 inches) and fourth in the shot put (33-0 3/4).

On the boys side, Trenton Horman won the 110 hurdles (16.90) and the high jump (6-2). He finished fourth in the long jump (18-6 3/4).

Scott County Central had two relay teams qualify.

Class 4 District 1

Central's Asia Thomas captured first place in the 400 (57.77), and Brittany Moreland finished first in the 800 (2:18.54) as the Tigers girls team scored 101 points to place third at the meet in Poplar Bluff.

The Central girls advanced to sectionals in four relays. The Tigers won the 3,200 and 1,600, finished second in the 800 and fourth in the 400.

Veronica Schabbing placed second in the 3,200 (11:41.12), while fellow long distance runner Mary Dohogne finished fourth in the 1,600 (5:25.92).

Sadie Pittman, who was a member of the 400 and 800 relays, placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 5.25 inches.

Meanwhile, the Jackson girls finished sixth with 48.5 points.

Jackson's Jill Rushin, who holds her school record for both the shot put and discus, placed first in both events.

Taylor Dickerson place third in the 800 (2:18.69) and Mary Ann Bradshaw placed third in the 400 (1:00.69).

On the boys side, Central's Matt Deisher and Ray Woldtvedt continued to prove they are the top two pole vaulters in the area. Deisher won the event with a vault of 14-0, while Woldtvedt finished second with a jump of 13-6. Woldtvedt, a junior, will be making his first trip to sectionals in the field event.

Jackson's Blake Peiffer placed first in the shot put and second in the discus.

I was just wondering why Chaffee has not got a head line. They are sending 9 boys and 5 girls to state. Two of the bs took 3 first place in Sectionals. It seems the only time Chaffee gets a head line is when they play a team and get beat i believe it is time for some good press and a head line.
