EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Dortha Louise Smith, 82, of East Prairie, died Friday April 1, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 10, 1923, at New Madrid, Mo., daughter of Riley and Enoma Barker Givens. She and Eugene W. Smith were married Nov. 20, 1937, and he died June 3, 1996.

Smith lived in Mississippi County for most of her life and was a member of the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Smith of Miller City, Ill., Jerry Smith of Sikeston, Mo., Darrell Smith of East Prairie; a daughter, Verna Hyde of Sikeston; two sisters, Mable Hunsperger of Charleston, Mo., Pauline Ditto of East Prairie; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
