High school roundup: Delta gets past pesky Chaffee in overtime

Chaffee's Anna Ayers hit a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation to force overtime against Delta on Thursday.

But the Red Devils couldn't pull off the girls basketball upset, falling to the Bobcats 75-66.

Ayers paced the Red Devils (2-12) with 23 points, while Randi Wiley added 17.

Taylor Kirchdoerfer added 14 points and seven rebounds and Ellie Sigman grabbed 13 rebounds in the loss.

Taylor Smith was the Bobcats' leading scorer with 23 points, while Machela VanGennip added 18 in the road win.

The Bulldogs wasted little time in the opening round of the Queen of Hearts tournament.

Notre Dame raced out to a 21-2 lead after one quarter and pushed its lead to 42 points after shutting out the Owls in the second quarter.

Allyson Bradshaw paced Notre Dame with 13 points and five assists, while Lacy Boeller added nine points and five rebounds. Meghan Dohogne chipped in 12 points for the Bulldogs (14-4).
