Judy Aslin has been named executive director of the Southeast Cancer Center, and Nick Schupp has been named director of radiation therapy at Southeast Hospital. Aslin was most currently director of patient care services. Since 1983 Aslin has served in the positions of nurse assistant, staff nurse, assistant nurse manager and nurse manager of the oncology unit, Southeast Hospice nurse manager and administrator and home care services administrator. As director of patient care services, Aslin's responsibilities include oversight of the quality of care, staffing, budgeting, nursing practice and compliance issues for medical telemetry, the surgical unit, orthopedic unit, psychiatric unit, infusion services, tumor registry and house supervisors/patient placement. She holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree in nursing from Murray State University in Murray, Ky. Schupp has been a member of the Southeast staff since 2005. He is experienced in stereotactic radio surgery, intensity modulated radiotherapy and brachytherapy procedures. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a master's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Brian Eftink of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Cape Girardeau, was recently appointed senior legal counsel for Wacker Chemical Corp. The company is building a production facility near Cleveland, Tenn. Eftink represents Wacker on domestic and international legal issues regarding its operations in eight U.S. facilities where it manufactures hyper polycrystalline silicon. Eftink received his bachelor's degree in political science and Spanish in 1996 and his law degree in 2000, both from Vanderbilt University. He is a 1992 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau and the son of Mary Jane and Leon Eftink of Cape Girardeau.
Dr. Paul Tolentino, a neurosurgeon at the Brain and NeuroSpine Clinic of Missouri in Cape Girardeau, recently became a certified diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Tolentino received his medical degree and doctor of philosophy from Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship and residency in neurosurgery at Shands Hospital, University of Florida. He is certified to practice medicine by the Missouri State Board of Healing Arts, has received numerous honors for his research work and is a member of many medical associations. Tolentino's postdoctoral education centered on regulated gene therapy in response to traumatic brain injury. He has practiced at the Brain and NeuroSpine Clinic of Missouri for seven years.
