Donald Martin Hente, 95, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at The Lutheran Home. He was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Cape Girardeau to Martin E. and Katharine Foerstel Hente. He and Ellen Watts were married more than 40 years. She preceded him in death in March 1980. He later married Irene Sanders Cannon May 1, 1982 in Cape Girardeau. She died Sept. 4, 2009...

Donald Martin Hente, 95, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at The Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Cape Girardeau to Martin E. and Katharine Foerstel Hente.

He and Ellen Watts were married more than 40 years. She preceded him in death in March 1980. He later married Irene Sanders Cannon May 1, 1982 in Cape Girardeau. She died Sept. 4, 2009.

Donald attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School. He was a graduate of College High School. He was also a graduate of St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

He was a pharmacist for Broadway Prescription Shop, Finney's and various other Southeast Missouri pharmacies.

Donald was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Cape County Pharmaceutical Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Clara K. Chesebro of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Martin (Elaine) Hente of Culver City, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Alice (Dan) Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen Hente; wife, Irene Cannon Hente; brother, Ivan Lee Hente; two sisters, Merline E. Hente, Laverna Jean Hente.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Martin and Mr. Jim Hicks officiating.

Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 804 N. Cape Rock Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
