Susan A. Weston, 61, of Marion, Ill., died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at her son's home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 5, 1949, in Cairo, Ill., to William and Patricia Aydt Ryan. She and Edward E. Weston Jr. were married March 13, 1970, in San Diego, Calif.

Susan was a teacher at Meridian High School in Mounds, Ill., 33 years. She received bachelor's and master's degrees from Southeast Missouri State University. She was named among Who's Who of American Teachers four times. She was an avid camper and boater and loved spending time with her children and grandchild.

Survivors include her husband, Edward E. Weston Jr. of Marion; a son, Todd E. Weston of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Kerrie Lee Weston of Creve Coeur, Mo.; two brothers, Jack Ryan and wife Diane of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., Tauby Ryan of Cairo; a sister, Marty Ryan of Paducah, Ky.; and a grandchild, Jacob Weston of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Wendy Riggs; and a grandson, Justin Riggs.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Potts officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the animal protection agency of your choice.
