The United Way of Southeast Missouri's annual luncheon Thursday will feature a keynote address by Joplin, Mo., superintendent of schools Dr. C.J. Huff. Huff will share how the community has come together to support students and help them achieve success, according to a news release from the United Way. Three Spirit Awards will be presented to an individual, a funded partner and a company during the luncheon. United Way executive director Nancy Jernigan said the organization is expecting around 100 guests. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau. Also upcoming for the United Way is the 25th annual golf tournament. The benefit tournament is set for June 1 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
