A California man was killed Sunday and a New Madrid, Mo., man was seriously injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash in Perry County, Mo.
Devin J. Scholl, 24, of Camp Pendleton, Calif., was traveling east on Perry County Road 444 west of Riverview Lane about 7:25 p.m. Sunday when the Honda Rancher ATV he was driving traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting him and his passenger, Derek J. Hayes, 24, of New Madrid, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
According to the report, Hayes sustained serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Scholl was taken by ambulance to Perry County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m. Sunday, the highway patrol reported.
Neither Hayes nor Scholl was using a safety device, according to the highway patrol.
