Gerald Martin Elfrink, 73, of Dupo, Ill., passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 9, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, son of Anthony and Gertrude Tenholder Elfrink. He and Marilyn Beussink were married May 12, 1962.

Gerald served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo and the church's men's club, was a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 4596 in Cahokia, Ill., volunteered at Dupo DuKare Food Pantry, and was a member of American Legion Post 485 in Dupo.

Gerald worked more than 35 years at Elfrink Truck Lines in St. Louis.

Loving survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marilyn of Dupo; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Justin Yamnitz of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; two grandchildren, Lani and Chase Yamnitz of Ste. Genevieve; a brother, Anthony (Rose Mary) Elfrink of Cahokia; a sister, Anna Marie Neely of Jackson; three sisters-in-law, Martha Elfrink of Cape Girardeau, Virginia Elfrink of Leopold, Mo., and Judy Elfrink of Jackson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Walter, Virgil and David Elfrink.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Dupo.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Paul Wienhoff officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jim Thomas.

A private committal service will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Cremation will be accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or masses in Gerald's memory.
