Venieda Reynolds, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, June 14, in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Sedgewickville, Mo., daughter of Burette and Cora Jane Limbaugh. She and Bill J. Reynolds were married in Cape Girardeau on May 2, 1953, and he preceded her in death March 24, 2007...

Venieda Reynolds, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, June 14, in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Sedgewickville, Mo., daughter of Burette and Cora Jane Limbaugh. She and Bill J. Reynolds were married in Cape Girardeau on May 2, 1953, and he preceded her in death March 24, 2007.

She graduated from Patton High School in 1946 and graduated from Cape School of Cosmetology in 1952.

She was a very active member of Lynwood Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for 20 years, was chairman of the church fellowship committee, sang in the church choir and designed the stained glass window that hangs in the church office.

She also was active in the community, where she served as secretary of Southeast Hospitals Auxiliary. She was president of the Cape County Republican Women and was an election judge in Cape Girardeau County for 25 years. She held office in Bible-study fellowship for eight years.

She and her husband for five years owned and operated the Oglanders Men and Women's Clothing Store, where she supervised the alterations department. She was a gifted seamstress, making alterations throughout the community for numerous years.

Survivors include a son, Terry (Cindy) Reynolds of Jonesboro, Ark.; a daughter, Tammy Johns of Ingram, Texas; a sister, Leona (E.P.) Kurre; two sisters-in-law, Eula Limbaugh and Flora Limbaugh; two grandsons, Paul (Alyssa) Johns and Adam (Amanda) Reynolds; one great-grandson and great-granddaughter; and nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorinda and Julene Limbaugh; and three brothers, Joe, Linzel and Rayford Limbaugh.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Lynwood Baptist Church and Southeast Hospice.
