Lucas Presson loves his work at the Southeast Missourian, in part because it's never boring.

"Whether it's working with the editorial board, reading columns or stories or working on a major project like the Semoball Awards, I'm blessed to enjoy my job and work with a great team," he says. "I often tell folks that one of the greatest joys is writing the daily prayer for the opinion page, which often comes from scripture."

Presson's faith is what inspires him to do his best daily.

"My faith in Jesus Christ is central in my life," he says. "I believe as Christians we're challenged to do our best for God's glory. If I'm doing something, I want it to be to the best of my ability."

Presson says the most satisfying part about his work is being part of a great product and company.

"Newsprint is a unique form of media that engages readers but also provides in-depth information on topics that affect us individually and as a community," he says. "Projects like the Semoball Awards are exciting. Recognizing the accomplishments of others is something that we, as a newspaper, do regularly. Whether this is through printing honor rolls, editorializing on community happenings and honors or being a part of a first-class event like the Semoball Awards, the Southeast Missourian believes in being part of this community and finding opportunities to provide a positive and uplifting voice while speaking truth."

Positive community change is something that Presson is passionate about.

"I love seeing organizations identify an issue and work to address it, particularly church groups and Christian organizations," he says. "It's rewarding to see lives changed for the better."

Presson is a member of Bethany Baptist Church, the Bethany music ministry, Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce and the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Development Committee.
