Linda McKinnis, owner and designer of Design Exclusive, says her job -- using her creativity to design and decorate weddings, events, homes and projects -- doesn't feel like work at all.

"It is extremely fulfilling being in a field that I absolutely love," she says. "Creating each project is uniquely different, which in return, makes my work never boring and one of the most rewarding things in my life."

A design challenge is McKinnis' motivation, whether it's turning a basic venue into an elegantly themed wedding reception, tackling elaborate community events or simply decorating a business or home. Carrying out the projects is the most satisfying part of her job, she says.

"The best part about my work is simply making things beautiful and seeing my visions come to life," she says. "I love bringing a smile to the faces of my clients."

McKinnis shares her passion and heart with Crisis Aid International, of which she is the area coordinator and leader for Crisis Aid Heartland, a hub to the St. Louis-based not-for-profit organization that reaches out to victims of sex trafficking.

McKinnis also is a member of the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce, the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawk Booster Club and LaCroix United Methodist Church.
