A barn and shop building were destroyed by fire in Cape Girardeau County Friday, according to a fire department official.
No one was injured.
Fire departments responded to 373 Cape Girardeau County Road 319 at about 8:30 a.m., Randy Morris, chief of the Gordonville Fire Department, said. Two structures on the property, a wooden barn and a shop building, are total losses, and a third suffered damage from radiant heat, he added.
Morris said he estimated damage from the fire at approximately $50,000. The fire was contained except for round bales, which "don't go out," he said.
The Gordonville FD will "allow them to burn until they're gone," Morris said.
The fire departments used a portable reservoir at the scene using water from a fire hydrant near Notre Dame Regional High School, Morris said.
Fire departments at the scene included East County, Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Delta and Millersville Fire and Rescue. The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department also was on the scene.
