Southeast Missouri state senior cornerback Tim Hamm-Bey was named the Ohio Valley Conference defensive Player of the week Sunday after a performance that included a blocked field-goal attempt during the Redhawks' 28-21 win over nationally ranked Tennessee State.
Hamm-Bey also had six tackles and five pass breakups for Southeast, which improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the OVC.
Hamm-Bey's block of a 25-yard field-goal attempt in the first quarter was the fourth blocked kick of his college career.
The Redhawks return to action at 3 p.m. Saturday when they visit Murray State.
