Three homes -- two in Glenallen, Missouri, and one in Marble Hill, Missouri -- were destroyed by fire within days of each other.
The first to burn was the home of Wain and Sheila Kirkpatrick of Glenallen. That structure caught fire Wednesday afternoon, and is believed to have been electrical in origin, said Lucas Simmons, fire chief at Glen Allen.
Twenty-five firefighters from Glenallen, Marble Hill and Leopold fire departments spent two hours on the scene, Simmons said.
The fire started on the front porch of the house. Wain Kirkpatrick heard a popping sound that awakened him. He alerted his wife, and both escaped injury.
The couple lost all their belongings, and they are living with relatives. A fund has been established to help them through Gofundme.com.
On Sunday, a fire of undetermined origin destroyed a mobile home in Glenallen just off Highway 34. The home belongs to David Shipley, whose daughter was living there. Twelve firefighters from Glenallen, Marble Hill and Leopold responded to put out the fire, said Marble Hill fire chief Jim Bollinger.
About noon Monday, a fire broke out at 303 Williams St. in Marble Hill in a frame structure owned by Jane Marquis and rented to David Shipley of Glenallen. Bollinger said another of Shipley's daughters was living there with her family. The house was occupied when the fire began, and the occupants were able to get out.
Bollinger said one of the occupants heard a crack between the walls in the kitchen, which is believed to have sparked the fire. Seventeen firefighters from Marble Hill, Leopold, Glenallen and Zalma responded.
The Red Cross was notified and offered help in each instance, fire officials said. No one was injured in either fire.
