While still a little way from reaching its overall fundraising goal, the Salvation Army met a shorter-term goal Saturday.

Contributions Saturday to red kettles up to $8,000 citywide were to be matched by a local anonymous donor.

"We met the match," Salvation Army Capt. Ronnie Amick said.

This year's red-kettle campaign goal is $327,000.
