SIKESTON, Mo. -- After much anticipation from local residents, the new Malco Sikeston Cinema & Grill opened Thursday at 1218 Cinema Drive in Sikeston, off U.S. 60 and Hennings Road in the Cotton Ridge Development.
The theater sports eight stadium-seating auditoriums, state-of-the-art Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound and 3-D projection. The auditoriums have wall-to-wall curved screens that include a 40-foot large-format Clarus screen.
The lobby showcases a sleek and modern cinema lounge, complete with space for guests to enjoy a casual meal or meet with friends before the show.
There also is an expanded concession menu that includes not only traditional movie snacks of popcorn, candy, nachos and pretzels, but the new Cinema Grill concept offering handmade hamburgers, grilled-chicken sandwiches, hand-battered corn dogs, chicken tenders and french fries. The new theater is the first Malco location with a self-serve Coca-Cola fountain at the concession stand.
The theater offers a party room, game room, reloadable gift cards, birthday party availability, group discounts (select days and times), corporate rentals and worship space. Also available are lobby kiosks, which will allow for online/advance ticketing redemption so patrons can skip the box office line.
To increase eco-consciousness and reduce the carbon footprint, Malco installed all LED bulbs and implemented a fully-automated energy management system. With movies being presented digitally, content deliveries mainly will be via satellite, and any other films would be provided on smaller digital drives, resulting in less packaging and harm to the environment.
Moviegoers may purchase tickets in advance at malco.com or via the free Malco app.
Malco Theatres operates the Malco Sikeston Trio, which will remain open in addition to the Sikeston Cinema & Grill.
