A Jackson woman who had been missing since Friday was found dead Wednesday afternoon in a pond on the her family’s farm in Bollinger County, Missouri.

Adrienne Kay Ptacek, 57, was pronounced dead at 4 p.m. Wednesday on a farm in Scopus, Missouri, according to Bollinger County Coroner Charles Hutchings.

Ptacek’s body was recovered from water estimated to be about 20 to 30 feet deep, Hutchings said.

The likely cause of death is suicide by drowning, although an autopsy will be performed when a pathologist is available — most likely Friday, Hutchings said.

Jackson police had been searching for Ptacek since Monday.

She last had been seen by her husband Friday at her home at 1515 Osage Trail.

He told police she did not leave any type of note.

Police and family members had been checking family properties, according to Jackson Police Cpl. Rick Whitaker. She was thought to be driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, but there was no information available about the car Wednesday.

Jackson Police could not be reached for comment Wednesday. The Jackson Police Department wrote in a Facebook post announcing Ptacek’s death: “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.”
