JACKSON, Mo. -- Ralph E. Lowes, 73, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Drake Rehabilitation Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and after 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Hanover Lutheran Church.

Funeral service will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Hanover Church. The Rev. Paul Short and Vicar Jeremy Pekari will officiate. Interment will be in Hanover Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Ross, Chuck Lowes, Michael Lowes, Vernon Daume, Richard Daume and Dennis Reimann.

Mr. Lowes was born March 7, 1928, in Jackson, son of the late Emil and Emma Voges Lowes. He and Mary Lou Surlet were married Aug. 22, 1950, in Arkansas. Mrs. Lowes survives.

Other loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Susan Lowes of Jackson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda and Eddie Ross of Jackson, Donna and Joe Young of Cape Girardeau, Barbara McFall of West Chester, Ohio; a sister, Lillian Reimann of Egypt Mills, Mo.; three brothers, Norman Lowes of Dexter, Mo., Paul W. and Harold Lowes of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Aaron and Adam Ross and Rachel and Samuel Lowes of Jackson, Cara Young of Cape Girardeau, Ashlyn, Justin and Austin McFall of West Chester.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and an infant brother.

Mr. Lowes was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 7, 1950-Aug. 1, 1956, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked 30 years for Missouri Utilities.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hanover Lutheran Building Fund or St. Paul School Expansion.
