Caroline E. "Carrie" Suedekum, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at the Lutheran Home. Caroline E. "Carrie" Suedekum, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born April 14, 1910, in Stanley County, S.D., daughter of William T. and Anna Haupt Hild. She and Clarence Suedekum were married Aug. 16, 1931, in Cape Girardeau. He died Jan. 27, 1976.

Suedekum was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, VIP Board, Salvation Army Board, St. Francis Medical Center Foundation Board, Trinity Lutheran Social Service Board, and Southeast Missouri District Fair Board.

She was a past president of Wednesday Club, Council of Garden Clubs, Cape Girardeau Garden Club, 7th District Hospital Auxiliary, and chairperson of Salvation Army Christmas doll program.

Suedekum received the St. Francis Medical Center Volunteer Award in 1967, Southwestern Bell Volunteer Award in 1988, and honorary award from Friends of St. Francis in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Clarence "Dub" Suedekum, and daughter-in-law, Saundra Suedekum, of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, Mid-America Teen Challenge, Living Hope, or St. Francis Scholarship Fund.
