CHAFFEE -- Leo D. Simmons, 88, of Chaffee died Friday, April 18, 1997, at his daughter's home in Fruitland.
He was born May 17, 1908, son of Frank and Emmie Davis Simmons. He and Beulah Surface were married March 3, 1928.
Simmons was employed by the Chaffee Lumber Co. as a carpenter until his retirement.
He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Cape Girardeau.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Virgie Kraust of Cape Girardeau, Mabel Schaefer of Scott City and Doris Spencer of Fruitland; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Kaughlan will officiate, with burial at Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
