DEXTER -- Geraldine Payne, 77, of Pontiac, Mich., died Thursday, Sept. 26, 1996, in Pontiac.

She was born May 13, 1919, in Formosa, Ark., daughter of John and Dora Bell Glendenning. She and Francis Payne were married March 14, 1942. He died May 13, 1984.

Payne had lived in Dexter before moving to Pontiac in 1985.

Survivors include three sons, Quinton and Jerry Payne of Pontiac, Gene Payne of Granite City, Ill.; a daughter, Betty Lester of Waterford, Mich.; three sisters, Johnnie Houston of Granite City, Betty Spencer of Ledbetter, Ky., Barbara Boyd of St. Louis; three brothers, Bill and Tom Glendenning of Tulsa, Okla., Troy Glendenning of Granite City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Monday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cecil Keller officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery near Essex.
