KENNETT -- The list of candidates grows longer. Two entered the Democrat primary election Tuesday, both filing for the office of County Commissioner, District 2. This brings to 16 the total number of persons who have filed for election to a county office.

The latest to file were Anthony Parker of Cardwell and Roceda Knauts of Kennett.

There are now six candidates for the commission post that is held by Carl Williams. Filing previously were Patrick McHaney, Nelda Morgan, Allen Brewer, and Don Collins. All are Democrats.

Harold D. Ward, R- Campbell, has filed for the County Commission, District 1, challenging incumbent Jeanie Moore Herbst, D-Malden.

The only other primary contest at the moment is for County Treasurer and Ex Officio Collector. Candidates are Nina Rhew, Pam Abbott and Jesse "Jay" Rhew.

Filing deadline is 5 p.m. March 28.
