The seminar will be presented in two sessions: "How to Survive a DOT Audit" during the 9 a.m. morning session, and "Surviving DOT Record Keeping" during the 1 p.m. afternoon session.

All for-hire and private carriers over 10,001 pounds gross weight; carriers of hazardous materials in any size vehicle; and carriers who carry 15 or more passengers must comply with DOT regulations.

A downtown Cape Girardeau business has been listed in "Best of Missouri's Hands," a catalog featuring the work of Missouri craftspeople.

"My Daddy's Cheesecake," situated at 111 N. Main, is the only local business listed publication, which is published by the Missouri Artisans Business Development Association, a not-for-profit Missouri corporation.

The catalog features almost 50 artisans and more than 400 items, ranging from traditional pottery, hand-wove rugs, collector dolls, jewelry and specialty food.

"This was a pleasant surprise for us," said Thomas Harte, head chef and president of the cheesecake corporation.

ST. LOUIS William J. Schicker of McMahon Ford, St. Louis, recently was installed as president of the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association (MADA).

Schicker has four dealerships, including McMahon Ford and McMahon Lincoln-Mercury, both in St. Louis; Ford Groves Motor Co., Cape Girardeau; and Barreth Chrysler Center in Washington.

A Southeast Missouri dealer, Carl Richardson of Richardson-Wynette Motors, Malden, was installed as second vice president of the association.

MADA has 530 new-car dealer members and is headquartered at Jefferson City.

The Small Business Development Center at Southeast Missouri State University will conduct sessions for area small-businessmen and those planning business ventures. Sessions will be held at Cape Girardeau, Sikeston and Perryville.

Gil Degenhardt will conduct the counseling sessions, scheduled for about one hour each. There is no fee for the sessions.

The Cape Girardeau sessions will be held at the Chamber of Commerce office, 601 N. Kingshighway, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. For appointments, call 335-3312.

Sikeston sessions are scheduled Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce, 1 Industrial Drive. Call 471-2498 for appointments.

Perryville sessions will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission office, 1 West St. Joseph. Appointments are available by calling 547-8357.

Joy Fritz, patient care director of medical/surgical nursing at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, has been appointed Southeast Missouri Unit Chair of the Missouri League for Nursing.

Fritz also belongs to the National League for Nursing, Missouri Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau and NAFE.

She is a registered nurse.

METROPOLIS, Ill. The "Players Riverboat Casino," expected to arrive at this Southern Illinois river town in early 1993, is now under construction at the Leevac Shipyards in Jennings, La.

The vessel, to be used for Southern Illinois Riverboat Casino Cruises Inc., will be a four-deck, 210-foot boat, and will resemble a turn-of-the-century side wheeler. It will be powered by two MTU engines developing a total of 1,470 horsepower.

The design calls for 900 gaming positions for 1,200 patrons. The vessel will carry a crew of about 200.
