JOPLIN -- James Lee Lummus, formerly of Cape Girardeau, has been appointed senior accountant in the Joplin office of Baird, Kurtz & Dobson (BKD) Certified Public Accountants.

Lummus, who joined BKD in 1990, is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a BSBA degree in accounting.

While attending Southeast, Lummus the son of Jim and Linda Lummus of Cape Girardeau served as an intern at the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

BKD is a regional accounting firm, currently ranked as 11th largest in the nation, with headquarters at Springfield, Mo. The firm has 19 offices in six states and employs approximately 740 persons.

Donna Kay Eakins of Cape Girardeau recently was promoted to supervisor for "Christmas Around the World," a national party plan company headquartered at Kansas City.

Eakins recently completed an orientation course which included a number of training classes, discussion of new company policies and a preview of the 1992 line of holiday gift and decoration items.

She has been associated with "Christmas Around the World" as a demonstrator for three years.

Eakins and her husband, Carl, are parents of two children. She is a member of the Community Drug Prevention Team at Cape Central High School and member of Cape County Women of Law enforcement. She also works part-time at the St. Francis Information Center in Jackson.

ROGERS, Ark. Scott Burford has been named director of exporting for Sam's Club Members Only, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Burford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Burford of Marble Hill, joined Wal-Mart in June 1985. He has served as senior auditor of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and Sam's Club.

In his new position, Burford will oversee operations of the export division.

Burford is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, with a bachelor's degree in marketing and management.

He and his wife, the former Jenni Ford daughter of Ralph and Doris Ford reside in Rogers, Ark.
