Blues buy team's AHL affiliate

ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues purchased the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester IceCats, on Friday.

The Blues have been affiliated with the IceCats since 1995.

Blues president and CEO Mark Sauer said the purchase strengthens the relationship between the two teams. He also said the Blues look forward to owning the IceCats.

"Their efforts and outstanding fan support from the entire Worcester community have enabled the team to consistently rank among the American Hockey League's attendance leaders," Sauer said.
