SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Scott City ended a three-game slide with a 33-14 victory over winless Brentwood Friday night.

Ram tailback Brad Glenn had a big night, galloping for three touchdowns to lead Scott City (1-3) to its first win of the season.

"We're coming together as a team," said Scott City coach Stephen O'Brien. "The big thing is the kids get rewarded for their hard work and see that, in the end, hard work pays off."

Scott City broke on top early in the second quarter when Glenn swept around right end and outran the Brentwood secondary for a 55-yard touchdown jaunt. Andrew Estes booted the extra-point kick for a 7-0 Ram lead.

Late in the second quarter, Glenn broke a 31-yarder to send Scott City to a 13-0 halftime advantage. Glenn finished a stellar night with 275 yards rushing on 27 carries.

"Glenn did some good things for us, but the offensive line and Estes did an outstanding job of blocking," said O'Brien.

After the intermission, Brentwood tailback Gary Willis scored on a 40-yard scamper with 7:47 to go in the third quarter. A two-point conversion run closed the gap to 13-8.

Willis, one of only two seniors on the young Brentwood squad, represented the bulk of the Eagle offense. He carried the ball 46 times for 320 yards of Brentwood's total offense of 380.

Prior to the Willis score, Scott City had a 52-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jeremy Glastetter and a 43-yard Glenn score called back on holding penalties. Then Brentwood executed an offside kick and recovered at the Scott City 45-yard line.

Said O'Brien, "Even when things went bad, they didn't quit. That's what I was looking for."

The Rams held the Eagles on downs and put together a 63-yard drive culminated by Glastetter's 1-yard sneak to go up 20-8.

But Brentwood (0-4) came right back with a score of its own on an 18-yard run by wingback Jon Kalb to narrow the margin to 20-14.

Scott City's superior depth began to wear down the Eagles in the final quarter.

"We've only got 26 kids on our team and everyone is going hard at it and that's all we can ask," said Brentwood coach Bryan Wegener.

Glenn scored from 15 yards out on a quick hitter up the middle and Estes ran off right tackle for a 37-yard tally to complete the scoring at 33-14.
