KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One of two inmates who escaped from the Municipal Correctional Institution in Kansas City was recaptured Wednesday.

Bryon W. Allinder, 22, and Oscar Rodriguez, 30, escaped Tuesday when someone intentionally drove a stolen sports utility vehicle through a fence at the institution.

Allinder, who had been convicted of six traffic charges, was recaptured in Kansas City Wednesday, said Nancy Leazer, the jail superintendent.

Rodriguez, who had not been charged with a crime, was still at large Wednesday afternoon.

A Jeep Cherokee crashed through the metal fence at the institution just before noon Tuesday. The car drove off and Allinder fled through the hole in the fence.

Leazer said Rodriguez saw Allinder fleeing and seized the opportunity to escape. The car was later recovered and police determined it had been stolen.
