U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof, a Republican candidate for Missouri governor, will be in Cape Girardeau today at 4 p.m. at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, 354 S. Silver Springs Road, to talk about a "pro-life policy package that will make Missouri a leader in obtaining stem cells through non-controversial means," according to a news release.

Hulshof's plan would obtain stem cells through umbilical cord blood, instead of harvesting them from embryos.

The Southeast Missourian will be at the event to report on Hulshof's remarks.
